FOREWORD
To: The Honorable President Barack Obama,
I am taking this opportunity to congratulate you on becoming the new President of the United States of America. This is a large step for the U.S. as well as a monumental step for the world. It signifies the real equality and equal opportunity for everyone as well as being a demonstration of the resolve of people to achieve true democracy. It is a great lesson for the world to learn that the power of leadership can be achieved peacefully while respecting people’s choice rather than capturing power through violent conquest, which is sadly still happening in many parts of our world.
I have always fervently supported you ever since you announced running for the Democratic Party’s Presidential nomination and since then I have sent you numerous letters to reflect my support. At the same time I have also sent many letters to the news media as well as to Senator John McCain (your Republican counterpart) to either support you or to seriously criticize him, his running mate (Governor Sarah Palin) and the Bush administration.
At this happy and well worthy celebratory occasion, I have gathered the above mentioned letters in this book to commemorate this important and record breaking event. These letters have been revised and updated for the purpose of printing this book but the ideas and themes remain unchanged. The original letters are still posted on my personal website www.mahmudhussein.com for at least 30 days before updating to these printed versions. This book is the culmination of the letters which I have written in response to the events leading up to your November 4, 2008 elections win as the 44th President of the United States of America and I earnestly await your inauguration on January 20, 2009.
The quality that distinguishes you from many preceding U.S. Presidents is that contrary to the common fundraising tactics, you received an overwhelming amount of support through grass roots means. This represented a significant change because it meant that many individuals came together and donated whatever they could afford in order to support your presidential campaign rather than your campaign relying heavily on larger donations from corporations. It eventually showed that as a result of people donating and supporting you on a grass roots level, you raised more money than any other campaign before you. This arrangement will give you a free hand without compromise or obligation to any powerful Washington lobbyists, who represent large corporations that fund almost all other election campaigns depending on how heavily they wish to influence governmental policies & expenditures.
Without such interference, you can clearly decide the best actions to take and can do whatever is just, fair and advantageous for the ordinary U.S. citizens and the world.
There will be many critical challenges ahead of you because of the carried forward problems and liabilities of the previous 8 years of mismanagement by the Bush administration, particularly this current global financial crisis and chaos. At this critical time, we definitely need a great leader in the U.S. because whatever path the U.S. chooses, either right or wrong, it undoubtedly affects the whole world as is evidenced by this current turbulent financial crisis. I have immense confidence in you as a great leader of the U.S.A. as well as a prominent world leader, to lead us all out of this chaos.
In closing, I will pray that God be with you and your family at all times and to help guide you through any difficulties in your presidential career.
