Politics & its Effects
As an educator, philanthropist, human rights and environmental activist, my mission is to make a difference in the world. There are many factors in the world today that have driven me to create Omni Search Services Ltd., with its ultimate aim to create a better world for all through educating and molding minds. I feel politicians on a global level have always been incorrect religiously, humanitarily, socially, & morally with their political decisions. Politicians through their political decisions have created division through out all of mankind. In my opinion politicians are sophisticated intelligent individuals who either lack the knowledge and understanding or just don’t care about what is going on in today’s world globally. Political decisions are being made everyday without humanity in mind. I feel politics is the starting point to all of our problems today. Politicians are making decisions based on their own agendas without considering the consequences and effects locally or globally.
I believe that responsibility is the state of a moral agent after the intentional or unintentional violation of a law, principle or value established by an authority under which the moral agent is subject. The law may have been established by the head of the social order as part of a greater legal system. It may have been established by God in his effort to lead and protect the highest well-being of mankind. Or the law may have been established by one’s own authority and integrated into his or her personal code of ethics.
Global Problems
Some examples of the global problems we face today as human beings include War, Terrorism, The Food Crisis, Poverty, and Environmental Issues. These problems are not limited to race or religion but have a common starting point that stem from Politics. These are global issues and they are human being issues which need global solutions for all mankind, regardless of race or religion.
Politicians need to come together to make decisions for the betterment of all mankind and not just those in their own backyard, with the care and consideration for everyone as a people.
War
A major conflict in today’s world is the Iraq War, which is having global effects on the world’s economy. The decision to go to war was a political decision by the U.S. government with their own agenda in mind. There was no care or consideration for the consequences that such decision would have on the Iraqi people or their own U.S. citizens. These politicians made the decision with their own possible benefits in mind. The adverse consequences of this war have had an enormous effect on the world. Five years into the war thus far, with no end in sight, the casualties of innocent Iraqi civilians and military personnel are countless. One country’s politics and decision to go to war for their own agenda has had a global affect on people all over the world.
The short sightedness of that political decision has created fluctuating oil prices, which affects transportation costs, which in turn affects the cost of goods we purchase for our daily lives. The effect of these increasing prices affects every family all over the world. It has been said that the cost of the Iraq war is in the neighborhood of three trillion dollars. The U.S. economy is suffering, Americans are losing jobs, their family homes, and their quality of life has diminished. The politicians have created this problem because they only considered their own agenda and not the concerns of the people.
Food Crisis
We are in the midst of a global food crisis, again created by political decisions and greed. Some politicians ignore the global effects that the food shortage is having on the world, especially for the already starving and poorest nations. Political decisions are being made to produce biofuels while diverting food crop production. The political decisions made in these countries are done with only their selfish benefits in mind; they are not considering the global effect on the people of the world.
Denial
Brazil’s President (Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva) is quoted as saying, “Biofuels aren’t the villain that threatens food security” at the start of the U.N.’s Food and Agricultural Organization. “On the contrary…they can pull countries out of energy dependency without affecting food”. Brazil is the world’s leading exporter of ethanol and the number two producer worldwide after the United States. In my opinion he is ignoring the reality that is happening all over the world and considering only his political well being. Brazil, a major producer of rice, themselves have suspended rice exports because of domestic shortages and soaring costs. This is only one example of many political decisions currently taking place around the world with only their own consideration in mind. I feel there is an urgent need for political decisions to be made with care for all mankind.
Costs of dairy goods have risen 20%, cooking oils 40% and wheat is up 60% .Political decisions have created this global problem and yet politicians now only make decisions to protect their own nation. Who will help poorer nations, where finances and resources are limited? Should the world just sit back and let these people starve? Through my work with Omni Search Services ltd., I aim to make a difference and create solutions globally without boundaries, regardless of race or religion.
Poverty
In my opinion poverty is another problem we are faced with that can be attributed to political decisions. Politics creates poverty and exacerbates its problems. The problems of poverty are a human creation, amenable to a human solution. Yet political decisions are made to maintain the boundaries between the rich and poor. Political decisions are made to starve important social investments like health care, schools and affordable housing; yet massive tax cuts are given to large corporations and the wealthy. There are examples all over the world of unjust political decisions made to benefit politicians and their wealthy friends while the poor and needy are left to fend for themselves.
Terrorism
I believe terrorism is also a result of global politics. Policies put in place to impose rules, regulations and a way of life onto other countries have created desperate situations for certain groups all over the world. Desperation and hopelessness have created and continuously help grow terrorist groups. Politicians on one side of the world try to impose laws, for their own benefit, to people on the other side of the world, this cannot work. Desperate people make desperate decisions. It is a fact of political life and history that terrorism is the weapon that oppressed populations have always employed against those they consider their oppressors, usually because it is the only weapon available. Terrorist acts are carried out with the intention of creating shock and fear with the hope that politicians will make compromises or offer concessions to the terrorist cause.
Armed Conflicts
All over the world today there are armed conflicts between governments and separatist groups labeled terrorist. For example:
- -Israel vs. Palestinians
- -India vs. Kashmiri separatist groups
- -Philippines vs. Mindanaoan separatist
- -Sri Lanka vs. Tamil Elan
- -Sudan vs. Darfur rebel groups
- -Russia vs. Chechen separatists
- -Colombia vs. National Liberation Army
- -Uganda vs. Lord’s Resistance Army
The creation of these so called terrorist groups can be attributed to unjust politics. These groups are formed out of desperation. This is yet another example of politicians and their political decisions creating division amongst all of mankind.
Environment
Our existence depends on the condition of our environment. The human population is approximately 6 billion and growing. As the population grows and societies flourish, this will put a strain on our environment. Most scientists believe that climate change is here and is human-induced, and that will lead to more extreme weather patterns such as hurricanes and drought, longer spells of dry heat or intense rain. This will seriously affect the world’s ecosystems as well as humanity. Yet, politics & politicians appear to be getting in the way of effective action. Rather than politicians come together globally to resolve environmental issues they sit back and try to shift the blame to other countries, meanwhile everyday we are hurting our environment.
In closing
These are just some of the examples how Politics & Politicians affect humanity with their decisions, not just locally but globally. Politicians need to stop making campaign promises (which in my opinion they can never fulfill) and bias decisions for the benefit of one nation, race or religion and start considering the effects on humanity. A better state requires Unity, Faith & Discipline without harming other nations. I believe we are all one people with one god and thus we should be making the right choices to benefit all of humanity without restrictions on race or religion.
